What about status.net? Much better name and branding… and hopefully everything will be unified with the W3C Social Activity Spec.

Back when Pump.io was still a stealth project, it was known as ActivityPump. If someone feels a need to change the name, that might be the one to use.

Still mulling over what @mlinksva said and I have to admit I would prefer a huge single provider that also federates with independent nodes, to the current situation where Twitter is a walled garden and small independent nodes federate with each other.
