Account moved!
Okay. I spent this morning using a handy dandy little tool to covert the monstrosity which is my Redis DB over to Mongo so that I can use my Pump.io node again. I no longer plan on using this account, it will remain as I have posted quite a lot by this account but I can be found at my new account:

Sigh. Looks like my old bike has given up the ghost. I have recently started road biking and using my old bike that I had when I was a bit younger:
The bike itself is quite old now and Peugeot the people who make bicycles has been defunct for about 10 years so getting parts for this obscurely sized bike has been quite a challenge (one bike shop didn't even have inner tubes for the odd wheel size).
Anyway two days ago my last ride I managed to come off my bike, I wasn't hurt but I seemed to have damaged my bike. The sprocket on the back moves (in both directions) independent of the wheel which makes me think it's a cracked hub in the axle. Since the age of the bike it's looking unlikely I'll be able to reasonably replace the back wheel.
I think it's looking like tomorrow I will be heading down to the bike shop get a new road bike. This comes a few days after I had the gear cabling replaced >.< Luckily I didn't spend anymore money on it.

I really need to start using pump more and also fix my old pump.io instance I use to run. It keeps getting pushed further down my todo list, I'm starting to think I'll never get it done.
Debating if I should just start a new instance but I think that would make it the 4th account I've had on the network? >.<jrobb , Christopher Allan Webber , Matt Molyneaux like this.
what's one more pump account? :-) I think this is my 3rd, maybe 4th, but I think 3rd. self-hosting is an adventure sometimes
Yeah. I feel as thought I should really write something to migrate me from redis to mongo so I can continue with my current data but I think it was last up in March so maybe it's better to just create a new account.

I am really wanting someone to come up with Firefox OS apps to do the following:
- Train times in UK (difficult as there aren't many/any open APIs)
- OSM application with direction support
- Google Authenticator support
- Cycle recorder to upload to Strava (would be cool if it'd post to other services too)
- MediaGoblin photo uploader
The mediagoblin one should be much easier shortly as the new APIs which are pump.io compatible should hopefully be coming soon.
I suspect since they're just javascript apps I shall be writing some soon when I get the time ^^ If you know of any Firefox OS apps which do any of the above let me know ^^

I'd love the train times one, any public transport. Traveline Scotland's website has a journey planner that might be adaptable? (IANAD) It brings together all modes of transport including walking.I know that http://trains.im works off opened data however it only does direct routes, also I love the national rail live updating before and throughout the journey regarding delays and such. Problem is national rail and the other rail companies refuse to make a open API so I don't know what really is possible without investing money or at the least trying to find a way to get unrestricted APIs

My Mozilla Flame has arrived! Just set it up and liking it so far. It's obvious it's early days and there is lots to improve upon but, I like it!
Hoping when I get some free time to develop some apps. I will be carrying my Fairphone around with me for the next few months as there are still some apps I'm missing such as Google authenticator, Strava, Skype and a few others. Hopefully in the future the apps will arrive or I will stop needing them.
I like it though :) Excited for Firefox OS.

By the way for any pumpa gentoo users I have an overlay with an ebuild for the latest pumpa build. I shall keep this up to date and it also has PyPump and p.
The overlay is: http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=user/tsyesika.git;a=tree
If you think it's useful let me know and I'll contact the layman folk and see they'll add it to layman. Until then I'll assume no one besides me uses it and I won't bother trying to get it into layman.
If you have any problems let me know

I find it funny when people read inboxen email addresses over the phone. Motorbike insurance company started trying to prounce a bunch of nonsense characters and then ended up reverting to spelling it. I think these people think they're bogus email addresses :P

I super want a Bat'leth. Though as a Na'vi speaker I probably should just want a tsko (bow) or tstal (knife). Maybe I could be a Na'vi speaking Bajoran (I like the earing thing) who knows how to use a Bat'leth xD
My wife has bat'leth earrings. Wil Wheaton blogged about them.

Found a good solution for downloading and keeping track of the podcasts I listen to. Getpod which I found on Sazius' website.
It's pretty simple in what it does, it just takes in a list of podcasts and where to put them and then it maintains a list of what you've seen/downloaded and allows you to run
getpod
and grab any new ones. I have tried a few podcatchers but they often suffer from being overly complex, this one does what it needs to and no more.Just thought i'd mention it since I'm really liking it.

I have updated my website. I'm now using pelican, a static publishing framework rather than the custom Django application I wrote before. With the backend change I decided to redo the design, still going for a simple design but a bit nicer than the last.
I have attempted to alias the old links for things like the RSS and atom feeds to the new addresses just in case anyone happens to be reading.
Still got some rough edges and I have to work out how to link some pages like Hardware I Use and Django The Good Parts. They're not blog posts but don't really fit into projects or the "contact" page.

Awhhh man! I just finished writing a note and I accidentally clicked off the box which caused the "Post a note" box to vanish. When I clicked the compose note button at the top it was a blank note (i.e. no saving).
Sigh.
I shall re-write the note I had written again in a bit >.<

Kind of wish someone had written a C++ library for pump.io. Might have had a chance of writing a basic client for Haiku.
Christopher Allan Webber , Evan Prodromou like this.
Show all 5 repliesAlso, it would give you an API in every language that supported gobject introspection. That's almost every language there is, so that would open up Pump to a LOT of cases.
Pumpa's implementation is in C++ and could possibly be separated into its own library. But it's also very dependent on the Qt framework (data structures, networking, etc).

I can't imagine turning Dianara's chaotic pumpcontroller.cpp into a proper library, but anyway... =)AFAIK, there's Qt for Haiku, so Pumpa and Dianara could possibly be built there.

I got my new monitor today. I am replacing the Samsung SyncMaster VC240 that my work loaned me. I bought the Iiyama Prolite E2481HS-B1 24" Widescreen LED, liking it so far ^_^
I recently upgraded my 17" monitor to a 24" one (a friend bought a new one so I got the old one :-) Now I don't know what to do with all that monitor real estate :-)

Inboxen is really coming together. Just got searching both on inbox tags and content of emails. Some changes we've had this year in case you've missed them:
- Image blocking/loading preferences
- Better data liberation
- Design overhall
- Code overhall (moving to class based views, django forms, etc.)
- Ability to exclude an inbox from the unified inbox
- Data liberation improvements
- Searching
