New blog post: What to do about PRISM?

    http://davidnelson.me/?p=172

There is one thing you've missed. ISP's (including your phone's ISP), using a VPN could be a good idea however the isp on the otherend could easily be the one collecting the data. The better idea would be to use Tor. Tor and domand SSL everywhere (even if it's self signed certs).

You have a very valid point, given the concentration of ISP's in the UK where 95% of users are on only 5 providers, it suffers from a similar threat. It probably didn't occur to me as I use the ISP that I work for and they are also a small independent ISP. I may update with the caveat that I do have a vested interest there which I don't want to put people off with. Those solutions are good and I do use them myself, I VPN all my mobile traffic back home, but I post under the assumption that they are not accessible to the majority of non-technically minded people. I don't want to just address the converted, there's a lot of people doing that, I want to reach to people who might not even consider the exposure they might have to their privacy and suggest solutions that are accessible such as simple behavioural changes.

Curious, as someone who will be looking for an ISP shortly, who do you work for?
